Scientists probe hidden effects of common antifungal on gut health
NCT ID NCT07295314
Summary
This study aims to understand how the antifungal medication fluconazole affects the community of bacteria and fungi living in the gut, and how it might influence the immune system. Researchers will compare 50 healthy male volunteers who either take the medication for 14 days or receive no treatment, tracking changes in their gut microbiome and immune markers for up to six months. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about how this common drug interacts with our body's natural systems.
