New blood tube could make platelet tests more accurate
NCT ID NCT06753838
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a different blood thinner (BAPA) works better than the standard one (citrate) for platelet function tests. Researchers will take three extra blood samples from 100 adults already having a PFA test. The goal is to see if BAPA reduces technical problems and gives more reliable results.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
BAPA tube (anticoagulant for blood sampling)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to more reliable platelet function tests, helping doctors better diagnose bleeding disorders.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study focused on lab measurements, not a treatment. Results may not change clinical practice directly.
