Cancer surgery antibiotics: a hidden gut microbe mystery

NCT ID NCT04875728

Summary

This study aims to understand how a common antibiotic given right before surgery affects the community of bacteria in the gut (the microbiome) of patients with early-stage skin cancer (melanoma). Researchers will compare patients who receive the antibiotic to those who do not, checking their gut bacteria and immune system before and after surgery. The goal is to learn if these changes influence how the body heals and responds to cancer.
