Blood test could help doctors time antibiotics to prevent Post-Surgery infections

NCT ID NCT06336213

Summary

This study aims to see if tracking a blood marker called presepsin can help doctors decide the best time to give antibiotics to patients having major surgery on their aorta (the main artery from the heart). The goal is to prevent serious post-surgery infections like pneumonia or sepsis. Researchers will enroll 50 patients to see if using this marker to guide treatment reduces infection rates and other complications.
