Doctors test new antibiotic timing to fight joint infections
NCT ID NCT02272205
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a standard preventive antibiotic dose before surgery, instead of after taking tissue samples, affects the treatment of infected hip or knee replacements. It involved 80 patients who had surgery to replace an infected joint. The goal was to see if this change in timing helps doctors better identify the infection and leads to better long-term results.
