Summary

This study aimed to understand how well a common antibiotic reaches the intestinal wall in infants during surgery. Researchers measured drug levels in the blood and intestinal tissue of 21 healthy infants aged 0-2 years who were having elective bowel surgery. The goal was to gather data to help optimize future antibiotic dosing for serious abdominal infections in infants.
