Are we giving sick kids the right dose? study probes antibiotics for children on life support

NCT ID NCT06426836

Summary

This study aims to find out if the standard antibiotic doses given to critically ill babies and children on ECMO (a heart-lung machine) are strong enough to fight infections. Researchers will measure drug levels in the blood of 300 young patients to see if the current doses hit the target needed to kill bacteria. The goal is to gather knowledge to help doctors use these life-saving drugs more effectively in this fragile group.
