First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using antibiotic-coated sutures (threads) during surgery for infected hip or knee replacements is as good as or better than standard sutures. About 142 adults with joint infections will take part. The goal is to see if the special sutures reduce the chance of infection coming back without needing to remove the joint implant.
