New study aims to stop dangerous infections after breast reconstruction surgery
NCT ID NCT07339215
Summary
This study compares two different methods for delivering antibiotics during breast reconstruction surgery to prevent infections. About 100 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either a dissolvable antibiotic bead or a non-dissolvable antibiotic disc placed during surgery. Researchers will measure antibiotic levels in the surgical area and track infection rates for 90 days to determine which method works better at preventing complications.
