New study tests tiny antibiotic beads to stop breast surgery infections

Summary
This study aims to prevent infections after breast reconstruction surgery by comparing two small antibiotic carriers placed during the operation. About 100 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either a non-dissolvable antibiotic disc or dissolvable antibiotic beads. Researchers will measure antibiotic levels in the surgical area and track infection rates and complications for 90 days to see which method works better.
