First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests a new tool that helps doctors check if a patient's reported antibiotic allergy is real, without needing skin tests. The goal is to safely remove or update incorrect allergy labels, allowing use of better first-line antibiotics. About 3,000 hospitalized adults with a beta-lactam allergy will take part. The tool uses a questionnaire and medical record review to improve treatment and shorten hospital stays.
