New tool could strip millions of false antibiotic allergies
NCT ID NCT06771440
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests a non-invasive 'fact-check' tool that uses a questionnaire and medical records to safely remove or refine antibiotic allergy labels in hospitalized adults. Many such labels are incorrect, leading to use of less effective antibiotics and longer hospital stays. The study will compare patients whose doctors use the tool against those receiving standard care, involving 3,000 participants across multiple hospitals.
