Eye injections tested to save sight in rare coats disease

NCT ID NCT03940690

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether anti-VEGF injections into the eye could help treat Coats disease, a rare condition that causes abnormal blood vessels and fluid buildup in the retina, potentially leading to blindness. The trial included 18 people with early-stage Coats disease who had not received prior eye treatment. Researchers compared the effects of these injections combined with standard laser therapy to see if they could improve disease stage and reduce the need for repeat laser treatments.
