Diabetes and thyroid link: new study to check antibody levels

NCT ID NCT07343648

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will measure levels of a thyroid antibody called anti-thyroglobulin in 112 adults with diabetes. The goal is to see how common these antibodies are in diabetic patients, since diabetes and autoimmune thyroid disease often occur together. Participants will provide a blood sample, and those with a history of thyroid problems or certain medications will be excluded. The results may help guide future screening recommendations.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could show that screening for thyroid antibodies in diabetic patients helps catch thyroid problems early.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve health, and results may not apply to all diabetic patients.
