Wobbly ankles weaken athletic performance, study finds

NCT ID NCT07171398

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at how chronic ankle instability (a condition from repeated ankle sprains) affects athletes' jumping and agility. 32 athletes (16 with ankle instability and 16 healthy) performed various tests like hops and sprints. Results showed that athletes with unstable ankles jumped lower, hopped shorter distances, and were slower in agility drills. The study suggests that both self-reports and physical tests are needed to fully assess ankle problems in athletes.
