New surgery tested to help frail elderly walk again after broken ankles

NCT ID NCT05131321

Summary

This study aims to find the best surgical method for treating unstable ankle fractures in frail adults aged 60 and older. Researchers will compare two procedures: one is the current standard surgery (ORIF), and the other is a newer approach using a special nail (retrograde nailing). The goal is to see which method leads to better quality of life, less pain, and fewer complications one year after surgery.
