Goldfish and kaleidoscopes soothe young boys before surgery

NCT ID NCT07094555

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether distracting boys aged 7-10 with a goldfish or a kaleidoscope while they are being taken to the operating room for circumcision can help reduce their fear, anxiety, and pain, and make them more comfortable. Researchers compared these two fun activities to the usual hospital routine. The goal was to find simple, non-drug ways to help children feel better before a procedure.
