New imaging tracer could reveal how chemotherapy affects lymphoma blood vessels

NCT ID NCT02490891

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a special PET scan tracer called 18F-RGD-K5 in 21 people with lymphoma. The tracer highlights blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) in tumors. Scans were done before and after two rounds of chemotherapy to see how the tumors changed. The goal was to learn whether this imaging method can measure treatment response, not to treat the disease directly.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

18F-RGD-K5 tracer

What this could lead to

If successful, this imaging method could help doctors see how well chemotherapy is working by tracking tumor blood vessel changes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 21 participants, so results may not apply to all lymphoma patients. The tracer is experimental and not yet proven to improve outcomes.
