Can anesthesia save more organs? new trial tests best approach

NCT ID NCT07166991

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at the best way to give anesthesia to brain-dead organ donors during surgery to remove organs. The goal is to keep their blood pressure steady, which helps protect the organs for transplant. About 270 donors will be randomly assigned to receive one of three options: a gas anesthetic, a painkiller, or no anesthesia at all. The results could improve how organ donations are managed.
