Anesthesia drug may shield kidneys during major surgery
NCT ID NCT06835010
Summary
This study tested whether adding a drug called dexmedetomidine to standard sevoflurane anesthesia could better protect kidney function during and after major knee replacement surgery. Researchers enrolled 90 patients to see if this combination reduced the risk of post-surgery kidney injury, especially in older adults or those with weaker kidneys. The goal was to find a safer anesthesia approach for vulnerable patients undergoing complex operations.
