Breakthrough monitor helps find safer anesthesia dose for vulnerable seniors

NCT ID NCT07467603

Summary

This study aimed to find the safest, smallest effective dose of an anesthesia medication (remimazolam) needed to put frail elderly patients to sleep for surgery. Researchers tested 58 patients aged 65+ and used a special breathing monitor to catch early signs of breathing problems. The goal was to make anesthesia induction safer by using just enough medication while closely watching breathing.
