Better breathing after surgery: study tests tube removal techniques

NCT ID NCT01323049

Summary

This study compared two methods for removing breathing tubes when patients wake up from general anesthesia. Researchers wanted to see if using positive pressure (gentle air push) helps patients maintain better oxygen levels compared to the standard suction method. The study involved 68 adults having orthopedic limb surgery, measuring how long they could breathe room air without their oxygen levels dropping too low.
