Scientists probe hidden brain effects of repeated surgery anesthesia
NCT ID NCT07388160
Summary
This study aims to understand if having general anesthesia multiple times affects the brain differently than having it for the first time. Researchers will measure specific chemicals in the blood and test thinking skills in 160 adults before and after gallbladder surgery. The goal is to gather new information about the safety of anesthesia and its potential link to changes in brain function.
