New combo treatment aims to cut blood transfusions in bone cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT07314424
Summary
This study is testing whether giving patients with low iron or anemia a combination of intravenous iron, a hormone (EPO), and a bleeding-reducing drug before bone tumor surgery can improve their blood counts and reduce the need for blood transfusions. It will involve 160 adults with bone tumors in the spine or pelvis who are scheduled for major surgery. Researchers hope this approach will become a standard way to manage blood health around these complex operations.
