At-Home swab could revolutionize anal cancer screening for HIV patients

NCT ID NCT06507917

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people living with HIV can collect their own anal swab samples to test for HPV, a virus that can cause anal cancer, as accurately as a doctor can. About 400 adults with HIV in Reunion Island will try both methods and share which they prefer. The goal is to make screening easier and more accessible for those at higher risk.
