Scientists investigate if a diabetes hormone causes nerve pain

NCT ID NCT03481283

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a hormone called amylin, which is higher in people with type 2 diabetes, is connected to nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy). Researchers will take blood and small skin samples from 40 participants to measure amylin levels. They will also test how well participants feel heat, cold, and pressure. The goal is to see if higher amylin levels are linked to worse nerve symptoms.
