New cancer drug AMT-676 enters first human tests
NCT ID NCT06400485
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase trial tests AMT-676, a drug designed to seek out and destroy cancer cells that carry a protein called CDH17. It is given intravenously to 24 adults with advanced solid tumors (such as colorectal, gastric, or pancreatic cancer) that have not responded to prior treatment. The main goals are to find a safe dose and to watch for side effects, while also checking how the drug behaves in the body and whether it shows any signs of shrinking tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AMT-676 (an antibody-drug conjugate that targets CDH17 on cancer cells and delivers a chemotherapy-like drug)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for advanced solid tumors like colorectal or gastric cancer that have stopped responding to standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, first-in-human trial with only 24 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet known. The drug may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors.
