Common blood pressure drug could help rare muscle disorder
NCT ID NCT07075965
Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether amlodipine, a medication typically used for high blood pressure, is safe and might help people with myotonic dystrophy type 1. Researchers want to see if the drug can improve muscle strength, reduce stiffness, and help with daily activities by affecting calcium in muscle cells. The study will involve 20 adults who will take the medication for 10 weeks while doctors monitor their safety and look for signs of benefit.
