Heart drug study pulled before it even started
NCT ID NCT05543278
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study aimed to see if giving a short course of the heart medication amiodarone after non-bypass heart surgery could reduce the common complication of atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). The researchers planned to enroll adults with normal heart rhythms before surgery, excluding those with certain heart or liver conditions. However, the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled, so no results are available.
