Heart patch could stop Post-Surgery AFib in its tracks

Summary

This study tests if placing a biodegradable patch soaked with the drug amiodarone directly on the heart during surgery can prevent a common complication called atrial fibrillation. About 500 adults having planned heart surgery will take part. The patch is designed to deliver the drug locally and then dissolve over time.
