New hope to fight muscle wasting in lung disease?
NCT ID NCT01173354
Summary
This study tested whether a nutritional drink rich in specific essential amino acids could help build muscle in elderly patients with COPD, a lung disease where muscle loss is common and harmful. Researchers compared this special drink to a standard amino acid supplement in 34 patients to see which was better at stimulating the body's muscle-building processes. The goal was to find a targeted nutritional approach to control the muscle-wasting aspect of the disease.
