Groundbreaking scan aims to spot Alzheimer's tau in living patients

Summary

This study is testing a new type of brain scan (called [18F]PI-2620 PET imaging) to see how accurately it can detect the tau protein linked to Alzheimer's disease in people while they are alive. It will enroll about 200 people, including those with Alzheimer's and healthy controls, who have a life expectancy of one year or less. The main goal is to compare the scan results with findings from a brain autopsy after the participant passes away, to see if the scan correctly identifies the disease.
