Scientists probe spinal cord for ALS clues

NCT ID NCT02429492

Summary

This study aimed to understand how amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) affects nerve activity in the spinal cord. Researchers compared 101 people, including those recently diagnosed with ALS and healthy volunteers, by measuring electrical activity in their muscles and nerves. The goal was to identify specific patterns or 'biomarkers' that could help explain the disease process and potentially guide future treatment development.
