New hope for ALS: major trial tests drug to slow devastating nerve disease

Summary

This study is testing an oral medication called tazbentetol to see if it can slow the progression of ALS and help people maintain their daily abilities. About 430 adults with ALS will be randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a placebo for 36 weeks, followed by an optional extension period. The main goal is to measure changes in physical function, safety, and quality of life.
