New scan could predict when ALS patients need breathing help

Summary

This study aims to find better ways to predict when people with ALS will develop breathing problems. Researchers will use electrical muscle tests and ultrasound scans on 80 ALS patients to see if these tools can detect early signs of respiratory decline. The goal is to help doctors start breathing support at the optimal time to improve quality of life.
