Three-Year quest to slow lung destruction in genetic emphysema

NCT ID NCT07326592

Summary

This study aims to find the most effective dose of an existing medication (Respreeza/Zemaira) to slow the progression of lung damage in adults with emphysema caused by Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. Over 270 participants will receive weekly intravenous infusions for three years while researchers measure changes in lung density and function. The goal is to determine which dose best preserves lung tissue and reduces severe breathing flare-ups.
