Landmark study tracks hidden liver damage in genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT06512454

Summary

This study aims to learn how liver disease naturally progresses over 5 years in 500 adults with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), a genetic condition. Researchers will observe participants without giving any treatment, tracking liver scarring, lung function, and overall health through regular check-ups and questionnaires. The goal is to better understand the disease's course to help improve future care and treatments.
