Hair regrowth breakthrough? experimental injection shows promise for bald spots

NCT ID NCT02557074

Summary

This study tested whether low-dose injections of a medication called IL-2 could help regrow hair in adults with severe alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition causing patchy or total hair loss. Participants had lost at least 50% of scalp hair and hadn't improved with other treatments. They received either the IL-2 injections or a placebo (dummy treatment) over a year to see which was better at restoring hair.
