Hair hormone clues: stress and gum health linked

NCT ID NCT07443605

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at 42 adults with advanced gum disease to see if stress hormones (cortisol and DHEAS) found in hair are linked to gum health. Researchers took hair samples and gave stress questionnaires at the start and 60 days after standard dental treatment. The goal was to understand how chronic stress might affect gum disease, not to test a new treatment.
