Could a simple fat injection ease arthritis pain in your hands?
NCT ID NCT05747469
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests whether injecting donated fat tissue (allograft adipose matrix) into the small joints of the hand can safely reduce pain and improve movement in people with early hand osteoarthritis. About 34 adults with joint pain and X-ray evidence of arthritis will receive the injection and be followed for changes in strength, range of motion, and disability. The goal is to offer a ready-to-use alternative to current treatments that require harvesting the patient's own fat.
