Extra knee ligament repair boosts repeat ACL surgery outcomes?

NCT ID NCT02680821

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at people needing a second ACL surgery (revision) after a first one failed. Researchers tested whether also repairing a nearby ligament called the anterolateral ligament (ALL) would give better knee stability and patient-reported outcomes. 102 participants were randomly assigned to get either standard revision ACL surgery alone or revision ACL surgery plus ALL reconstruction. The goal was to see if the combined approach leads to better rotational knee stability and higher scores on knee function questionnaires.
