New narcolepsy drug shows promise in reducing sleep attacks and muscle collapse

Summary
This study tested an experimental drug called ALKS 2680 in 92 adults with narcolepsy type 1, a condition causing severe daytime sleepiness and sudden muscle weakness (cataplexy). Participants stopped their usual medications and received either ALKS 2680 or a placebo for several weeks. The goal was to see if the drug could help them stay awake longer and reduce cataplexy episodes. The trial is now complete, and results will show if ALKS 2680 is safe and effective.
