Can a cholesterol drug protect heavy Drinkers' livers?

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether alirocumab, a drug used for high cholesterol, is safe and may reduce liver inflammation in heavy drinkers. About 100 healthy adults who drink 20+ alcoholic beverages per week will receive either the drug or a placebo injection for 8 weeks. Researchers will monitor side effects, liver stiffness, and blood markers to see if the drug affects alcohol-related liver damage.
