Cash for sobriety? study tests rewards to curb drinking
NCT ID NCT04064463
Summary
This study tested whether offering rewards helps people with alcohol use disorder stick with treatment and stay sober. Researchers followed 74 adults in outpatient treatment, giving some participants small rewards for attending therapy and for providing blood tests showing they hadn't been drinking. The goal was to see if this 'contingency management' approach led to better attendance, more days without alcohol, and fewer heavy drinking days over a full year.
