Blood test may predict surgery complications in drinkers

NCT ID NCT06864819

Summary

This study aims to understand if a blood test that measures recent alcohol use can help predict how patients recover after major surgery. Researchers will check this alcohol marker in adults who regularly drink and are having planned surgery with a hospital stay of at least three days. The goal is to see if the marker is linked to complications like infections, confusion, or longer hospital stays, to help improve patient care.
