First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether alcohol, drugs, or pain medicine given before hospital arrival changes how doctors decide on surgery for people with penetrating belly injuries. Researchers will follow 363 patients at two trauma centers in Colombia, comparing those who had these substances to those who did not. The goal is to see if these factors delay surgical decisions or lead to unnecessary tests or surgeries, helping improve care for all patients.
