First seen Mar 02, 2026 · Last updated Apr 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study aims to see if injecting alcohol or capsaicin (a chili pepper extract) into painful nerve endings can reduce phantom limb pain and stump pain in people who have had an amputation. It will involve 120 adults with lower or upper limb amputations who still have significant pain despite trying other treatments like physical therapy and medications. The goal is to find a longer-lasting way to ease this specific type of chronic pain.
