This study aims to improve a short motivational conversation to help young adults (ages 18-25) who were injured in an assault and also misuse alcohol or cannabis. Researchers will interview and survey 50 participants from the emergency department to understand how confident they feel about changing their substance use and how friends and family influence their behavior. The goal is to adapt and test this conversation to make it more effective for this group.
