Scientists probe immune cells to unlock alcoholic hepatitis mysteries

NCT ID NCT04088370

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at how alcohol changes immune cells in the blood. Researchers will compare blood samples from 30 people: healthy controls, heavy drinkers, and patients with alcoholic hepatitis. The goal is to measure how well these cells produce energy and respond to inflammation, which may help explain why some heavy drinkers develop liver disease.
