Liver Patients' kidney crisis: can a simple protein infusion beat saline?

NCT ID NCT07270874

Summary

This study aims to find out if giving an intravenous protein (human albumin) is more effective than a standard saline solution for treating sudden kidney injury in people with advanced, decompensated liver cirrhosis. About 114 hospitalized patients with both conditions will be randomly assigned to receive either albumin or saline over two days and followed for 28 days. The main goal is to see which treatment leads to better recovery of kidney function without needing dialysis.
